Santam expands its dynamic damage detection mobile application to other provinces

3 min read 27 March 2025

Santam is excited to expand its Dynamic Damage Detection mobile application reach, which launched last year from Gauteng to selected Motor Body Repairers (MBRs) in the Western Cape, as well as a limited number of MBRs in other provinces.

Following the registration of a vehicle claim, the only information needed is the claim number and a cell phone number which may belong to the client or the person in possession of the vehicle to capture pictures of the damage.

A WhatsApp message will be sent to either the client’s number or the alternate number provided, offering guidance on how to take pictures of the vehicle and its damage using the mobile application. The application provides the option for clients to select a Santam-approved repairer near their chosen location for vehicle repairs. If a client prefers to use a repairer not listed on the app, the assigned claims service consultant will reach out to assist further.

Once the pictures are submitted via WhatsApp, the application will analyse them to identify the vehicle, assess the damage, and generate a damage report with an estimated repair cost within minutes – a process that significantly reduces claim processing time, providing clients with a faster and more efficient experience.
