Sam is responsible for the Information Technology capabilities of the Santam Group, including responsibility for driving the digital transformation, cloud transition and implementation of data solutions. Previously Sam held the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Sasria and various other executive and senior roles at, amongst others, Auditor General of South Africa, Absa/Barclays, Wincor Nixdorf UK and Standard Bank. He is an experienced technology executive with more than 30 years of experience in the building and turning around of Information Technology capabilities in various sectors, that include financial services and insurance. Sam sat on the Hollard Group Board for the past 7 years which he resigned on 31 July 2023.
