Emerald Risk Transfer is the largest underwriting manager of corporate property and affiliated engineering risks in South Africa. Our capacity
The current capacity per risk is ZAR 1.5 billion based on policy loss limit in South Africa and Namibia. The current capacity per risk is USD15O million or local currency equivalent on a limit of liability basis for the rest of Africa (Excluding South Africa and Namibia).
International A-rated paper solution
Emerald is able to offer AA-rated security through a binding authority from New Reinsurance Company Ltd (NewRe) and may use their international Standard & Poors AA- credit rating to write inwards reinsurance business. NewRe is registered in Zurich, Switzerland and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Münchner Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft (Munich Re).

We have access to the Sanlam Pan Africa cedant network in 29 African countries, with a significant existing portfolio throughout the African continent, offering insurance solutions to over 600 clients in Africa, of which 75 are South Africa’s top 100 companies. We also insure businesses in India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
